About

Outline

The Department for the Ecology of Animal Societies at the University of Konstanz and Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior is seeking applications for our new Collaborative Research Grant program.

These grants are intended to support teams of 2-3 post docs to carry out their own independent, collaborative research projects within the broad topic area of how animal societies emerge and function over the course of 3-4 years. Selected teams will join the new Ecology of Animal Societies Department and help us build a friendly and collaborative research community.

What is funded

Grants provide:

  • salary for all team members for 3-4 years
  • research funding to carry out the proposed project
  • professional development support

Duration

3 years plus the possibility of extension for an additional year

Eligibility

  • Applications must contain a single project to be carried out with a team of 2-3 researchers.
  • All team members must have a PhD, or be expected to receive a PhD in the next 6 months (in any scientific discipline) at the time of application.
  • Ideally, all team members should plan to be based in the Ecology of Animal Societies Department at the University of Konstanz / Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior for the duration of the project. Teams with one or more members at other institutions are also welcome to apply, however salary for external team members cannot be covered by the grant.
