Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint Etienne (Mines Saint-Etienne) leads research and Education activities in Microelectronics within the Campus Georges Charpak – Provence (CGCP). CGCP has over 80 permanent people including 47 faculty members under various statutes, 24 engineers, technicians and administrators, and 9 researchers from industry (ST Microelectronics, Thalès). CGCP includes several facilities, which guarantee the success of the project:

  • Integration and characterization laboratory - An upright optical microscope with a patch clamp setup (for single cell manipulation/measurement), an inverted optical microscope with a cell incubator, a potentiostat for electrochemical characterization, multiple source/measure units, electrical equipment (multiplexers, pulse generators), UV/VIS spectrometer, spectrofluorometer, and an accelerated aging station for organic devices.
  • Cell culture laboratory - This includes stackable incubators, a biosafety cabinet, a refrigerator/freezer combo, an inverted fluorescent microscope & workstation, a Coulter counter, an optical parameter reader, a refrigerated centrifuge and microfuge, a -150°C freezer, a steam sterilizer, an autoclave, and molecular biology equipments.
  • Microelectronics fabrication facility - a 800 m2 cleanroom shared favilities. It includes a photolithography suite and thin film deposition, processing and characterization equipment (evaporators, sputtering chambers, etchers, annealing ovens, SEM, AFM, profilometry, probe stations, etc.), printers. It includes also additional equipment such as molecular vapour deposition and parylene deposition tools. Such a facility is equipped with scientific and technical equipment for printed electronics and packaging of electronic devices, worth more than 8 M€
