The NanoBiotechnology Research Group works on different projects related to nanomedicine, using a variety of nanomaterials, therapeutic oligonucleotides and drugs. We are interested in developing new generation of smart nanocarriers to control the delivery of therapeutic molecules.
We also aim to develop sensors of nucleic acids, particularly mRNA and microRNAs to detected diseases such as pancreatic cancer, uveal melanoma or Duchenne muscular dystrophy among others.
The candidate will work mainly in projects dealing with smart nanocarriers against cancer. These systems will require the preparation of nanoparticles (e.g gold, iron oxide), modified oligonucleotides (e.g, Aptamers, siRNAs) and drugs (e.g. SN38, Gemcitabine, Doxorubicine) . Once these elements are prepared the will be combined using linkers that can control the release of the active molecules. After the characterization of the nanostructures the biological activity will be assessed in cell culture.
Candidates are invited to submit their Expression of Interest to Prof. Álvaro Somoza (firstname.lastname@example.org) with subject MSCA-IF 2018 by the 31th of August 2018. The Expression of Interest should include a complete and updated CV with a brief description of the previous research and a motivation letter in ONE PDF file only.
