Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2021

Would you be interested in spending 1 – 2 years as a postdoc on a research project on chronic inflammatory diseases and exercise in a small but ambitious research environment in southwest Sweden? The School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability at Halmstad University, in the area of Exercise biomedicine, invites one or several candidates* of any nationality to develop a collaborative MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship** application within the European Commission’s Horizon Europe program. Applicants may not have resided, worked, or studied in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the call deadline (September 15, 2021). The selected candidate(s) will together with a researcher and mentor in Exercise Biomedicine from the School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability at Halmstad University develop a joint project proposal, that will be submitted by The School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability as the host organization. For this call, we are open for any topic that falls within Chronic inflammatory disease and exercise, but in addition to the applicant’s merits, we will prioritize according to closeness of fit with the following designated mentors:

  • Åsa Andersson, Prof. Biomedicine: Research on molecular interactions and expression of specific proteins important for the pathology of chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases and the role of exercise.
  • Emma Haglund, Assoc. Prof in Biomedicine – physical activity and exercise. Specialized physiotherapist in rheumatology. Research on the consequences of, and risk factors for, musculoskeletal diseases and pain disorders, and the effect of physical activity and exercise as treatment.
  • M. Charlotte Olsson, Assoc. Prof in Exercise physiology: Research on the role of exercise in fitness and disease with a focus in cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases.

The School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability has two research environments where the selected candidate will be a member of the Rydberg Laboratory for Applied Sciences (RLAS) research environment with about 35 researchers. In RLAS, research and collaboration are within the areas of Bioscience, Material Science and Energy Science with a focus on sustainable development. The selected candidate will be a part of the Exercise Biomedicine Research Group. The research group consists of 2 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor and 2 doctoral students. The Exercise Biomedicine research group works closely with the Spenshult Research Center, an independent research center in musculoskeletal diseases also located in Halmstad (http://www.fou-spenshult.se).

* that at the date of the call deadline 15 September 2021 are in possession of a doctoral degree or has successfully defended a doctoral thesis, and a maximum of 8 years after the possession of a doctoral degree
