
The Embassy of Spain in Beijing, through its Spanish Office for Science and Technology (CDTI-SOST China, Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities), is pleased to announce the upcoming event “SPAIN–CHINA EXCHANGE: Connecting Talent, Advancing Excellence and Cutting-Edge Scientific Research”, to be held on October 14, 2025, from 15:00 to 17:45 (Beijing time) / 09:00 to 11:45 (Madrid time) at the Auditorium of the Instituto Cervantes in Beijing.
This international gathering will bring together leading institutions from both countries, including SOMMa, FECYT, CSIC, the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), with the aim of fostering scientific collaboration and talent exchange.
The program will feature presentations on Spain’s excellence networks, such as the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Centers of Excellence and the SOMMa Alliance, alongside insights from Chinese research institutions. Renowned scientists will showcase key research areas in precision medicine, mathematics, climate change, marine sciences, and sustainable agriculture.
The event will be inaugurated online by Dr. Juan Cruz Cigudosa, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Universities (Spain), and Dr. CHEN Jiachan, Vice Minister of Science and Technology (China).
Held in a hybrid format, the session will offer simultaneous interpretation between Spanish and Chinese, with part of the program in English. It will conclude with a roundtable titled “Connecting Talent and Funding Instruments for Scientific Mobility and Cooperation”, featuring representatives from CSC, NSFC, SOMMa, FECYT (Spain/Euraxess Spain), and CSIC.
