FECYT publishes the ninth edition of “Researcher Career Path in Spain at a Glance”, a document designed to support researchers in planning their research careers
Madrid, 27 March 2026. The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) has released the ninth edition of “Researcher Career Path in Spain at a Glance”, a key document for researchers wishing to develop or continue their careers in Spain. This visual guide aligns research positions within the Spanish Science and Technology System and the corresponding recruitment mechanisms with the profiles of the European Framework for Research Careers (R1, R2, R3, R4), and outlines the main funding opportunities—both public and private—available to researchers.
The ninth edition covers funding calls published between 2023 and 2026 and includes updated information on European, national, regional and private‑sector opportunities. It also provides links to key resources such as the R3 certification and ANECA accreditation, and includes information on contract durations, application windows, and the evolution of opportunities throughout the research career.
This report is an essential tool to support researchers in making strategic decisions, facilitating the planning of their professional trajectory and access to the various funding opportunities available in Spain. The report is available for download and consultation in the Science in Spain section of the EURAXESS-Spanish portal.
