On April 21, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the State Research Agency (AEI), will hold the hybrid webinar “Choose Europe, Choose Spain”, an initiative aimed at highlighting Spain’s potential as a strategic destination for international research talent.
The event is part of the European initiative Choose Europe, promoted by the European Commission to strengthen the attraction and retention of research talent within the European Research Area. In this context, Spain focuses on its national and European talent‑attraction programmes, as well as on the support services that facilitate the development of research careers in the country.
The event will be held entirely in English and can be followed both in person and online. The programme will address major European funding opportunities, including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and European Research Council (ERC) grants, as well as the main novelties on key AEI national programmes such as Ramón y Cajal and ATRAE.
Additionally, the role of EURAXESS Spain, coordinated by FECYT, will be highlighted as a key network supporting international researchers by providing information and assistance on both professional and personal aspects to facilitate their arrival and integration into the Spanish R&D&I system.
The event will also feature a best‑practice session in which researchers will share their experiences in securing competitive funding and developing their research careers in Spain, offering a practical perspective on the path toward research excellence. Organisations will also participate, sharing their experience in providing support for funding applications and in offering services for the integration of researchers into the Spanish Science and Technology System.
With this initiative, Spain reinforces its commitment to attracting international talent, positioning itself as a competitive, open scientific ecosystem that respects research autonomy and remains deeply connected to Europe.
