REBECA mentoring programme 2026
The REsearchers CAreers BEyond aCAdemia (REBECA) by EURAXESS mentoring programme 2025–2026 has been launched in its 5th edition to provide early‑career researchers with opportunities to explore career paths beyond academic research. This year, the programme includes participants who have developed their careers either partially or entirely in Spain.
General information
REBECA 2025-2026 edition has put in contact 111 The 2025–2026 edition of REBECA has brought together 112 pairs of early‑career researchers. The organizers received approximately 350 applications from early‑career researchers interested in participating in the programme, as well as over 120 applications from potential mentors. After a careful selection and matching process, 112 pairs were formed.
Collaborators
In this edition of the REBECA mentoring programme, 40 organizations have decided to collaborate with the initiative by supporting their employees in participating as mentors and by giving visibility to the programme.
Information about participants
Each pair was formed matching mainly the mentee interests with the professional experience of the mentor, and their shared background.
Mentees are early career researchers, PhD candidates (R1) and postdoctoral researchers (R2) who have not defend the thesis later than 8 years. 350 applications were evaluated on mentoring understanding and commitment, awareness of barriers of intersectorial mobility, and motivation to participate on the programme. Eligible professionals, defined as those not employed as academic researchers, were selected as mentors when an appropriate match could be assigned. The participating mentor characteristics are the following:
Programme and Calender
During 6 months from January to July, pairs meet a minimum of 6 times. Moreover, 3 mandatory trainings for mentees are delivered, 1 voluntary for mentors, 1 networking event for mentees and mentors, and 2 career panels, where mentors in a group talk about their current profession and careers.
