Understanding the reasons behind others’ people behaviour is a powerful tool to set the grounds of complex relationships This training is designed to PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows who are working in academic institutions and want to understand the factors that drive group leaders and supervisors’ behaviours and decisions, and how to align expectations, anticipate confusing tasks and comments, and adapt to certain behaviours.

During the training, participants will learn:

• The impact of the relationship between group leader/supervisor and employee/supervee on individual wellbeing,
• Understand the multiples roles that a group leader holds and how may affect in different aspects of the relationship.
• Increase their self-awareness of developmental stages in their competency and motivation and the need of different leadership styles depending on them
• Structured their expectations towards their group leaser based on the multiple facts and stages of the relationship.

This training does not intent to provide with conflict management skills to participants, although it will provide them with valuable tools to set expectation and limits, the grounds of working relationship, that together with effective communication, is needed to resolve conflicts.
