Spanish Neuroscientist Jesus Cortés Returns to Bilbao and Organizes Innovative #NeuroTxoko Event

Neurotxoko Day

Throughout these years, many of our researchers have returned to Spain and have been continuing contributing to R&D. This is the case of Ikerbasque professor Jesus Cortés who returned to Bilbao from the USA. Jesus Cortes came to Bizkaia with his family to develop his scientific career and after more than a decade he continues adding value to our ecosystem.

An example of this contribution is the last event co-organised together with Asier Erramuzpe, and the rest of the members of the Computational Neuroimaging Group of IIS Biobizkaia on the 7th at the Gastronomic Society of Urizar a #NeuroTxoko. An original idea to bring together neuroscience professionals and, through food, talk about relevant topics in neuroscience as neuronal plasticity, synaptic connection and sensory perception.

This event was sponsored by NeuronUP, bringing together a total of 26 neuroscience professionals, from varied disciplines as #Physics, #Engineering, #Neuropsychology, and #Neurology, and from various institutions in the #Basque Country, including the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea and the Biogipuzkoa and IIS Biobizkaia Health Institutes.

The event began with a talk by Juan-Carlos Arboleya, from the Basque Culinary Center, which was very interesting as he highlighted the different lines of work at the frontier between neuroscience and haute cuisine.
