EURAXIND "EURAXESS for industry"

EURAXIND "EURAXESS for industry"

WHAT IS THE GENERAL AIM OF THE PROJECT?

One of the most important aims of the European Research Area (ERA) is to create an open market for researchers, facilitating and stimulating, in particular, cross-sector mobility, the opening of industry to R&D&I and increased research staff.

EURAXIND will work to ensure that the EURAXESS network, which provides services to researchers and their employers, improves its portfolio of services and relationships with industry. To this end, the project will work to identify the needs of the company and of researchers, and will attempt to serve as a link between these two stakeholders. For example, one of EURAXIND’s objectives will be to encourage industry to use EURAXESS Jobs more generally as a platform for job offers for its research staff. It will also develop online tools to aid researchers to establish careers in other sectors in addition to academia, and it will draw up a summary of researchers’ skills by job type.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROJECT LAST?

The project began in May 2016 and will finish in May 2018.

WHAT IS FECYT’S ROLE?

FECYT will work primarily on analysing how the EURAXESS member institutions (in Spain and elsewhere in Europe) communicate with industry and build collaborative activities with them. For this purpose, we shall identify EURAXESS members that have developed good practices in the field and publish a report with the conclusions. We are also in charge of conducting an investigation into the EURAXESS network, with which we will analyse what the relationship of the initiative is to industry and to the promotion of cross-sector mobility. With all this information, we will develop an online toolkit with advice and good practices to improve the relationship with industry for all members of the EURAXESS network.

I AM A MEMBER OF EURAXESS SPAIN. HOW CAN I GET THE MOST OUT OF EURAXIND?

The results of the project, which we will continue to publish, will be useful to those members of the network who are thinking about improving their portfolio of services to industry, and researchers who are considering a career working for a company. The project also plans to organise a series of workshops so that members of EURAXESS’ national networks can learn first-hand the main results of the project. We will publish details of these workshops nearer the time.
